Study in Australia from Bangladesh: Universities, Costs & Scholarships

Australia pulls a lot of ambitious Bangladeshi students, and for good reason: real rankings, degrees people recognise everywhere, and the chance to stay and work after you finish. The one thing to go in clear-eyed about is money. It isn't cheap.

Why Australia

Employers everywhere know the degrees, and the post-study work visa lets you turn your years there into actual experience, not just a certificate. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are safe, full of other international students, and there's part-time work if you want it.

The universities worth knowing

You'll hear the same names on repeat: Melbourne, Monash, Sydney, UNSW, ANU, Queensland. All strong. But the right one is whichever takes your grades, teaches your course well, and doesn't wreck your budget, not whatever sits highest on a list.

What it costs

Undergraduate tuition usually starts near $22,000 a year and climbs for business, engineering and medicine. Then come rent, food, health cover and flights. Rent is the number that bites, and it bites hardest in Sydney. Scholarships and up to 20 hours a week of part-time work take some sting out of it. Ask a counsellor to build the full picture before you fall for a sticker price.

Getting in

Scholarships

Most Australian universities put money on the table for international students, and a few run awards aimed at South Asian applicants. They're competitive and they close early, so a sharp application is what separates paying full freight from getting a real chunk knocked off. This is exactly where good guidance earns its keep.

How to apply

  1. Shortlist by grades, budget and course.
  2. Line up transcripts, IELTS, SOP and references.
  3. Apply and track each one to an offer.
  4. Accept, sort finances, then lodge the student visa.

Plan for six to nine months including the visa. The students who leave it late are the ones who miss intakes.
